The use of an automatic chicken door is really important if you want to be able to sleep in on your Saturdays .  Chickens are creatures of habit and when they get into a routine it is important to keep it or they can get stressed.  While I am working on some new plans I have not released them nor will I , until I can come up with a bullet proof design that is easy for a person to use on any coop. 12 volt or 120 power system :  A12volt system can be adapted to an aftermarket solar system , while 120 must be brought in from an existing source of power.

Simplicity of design – the less moving parts to break the better

Is there a safety feature that will keep a bird from accidentaly getting crushed , god forbid this can occur during daylight savings time changes , because we all know that birds can’t tell time .

How easy is it to attach a timer system to the unit ? Or can you attach a photocell?

There are a lot of engineering concerns to consider but it can be worth it if you value a normal lifestyle.
